TDIN2016 – Day1: 14.7kWh to Italy
Today’s the day: My youngest daughter and I are on our way to Styria via Italy and Slovenia.
After a very normal hectic last day at work spent making sure everybody knew what needs to be done during my absence, I meet my daughter outside my office at 4.30pm.

We’re ready for TDIN2016!
We leave Zürich and hit heavy traffic on Switzerland’s motorways – Zürich’s schools close for a two-week autumn holiday period today and we’re not the only ones with the brilliant idea to drive towards Italy 🙂
As usual, here comes the traditional TWIKE-team picture:

There isn’t too much to say about us driving across Switzerland on the motorway… other than it is incredible to be actually able to cover 200km+ driving at 90+kph for most of the distance. (I really like my new battery!)
Some pictures from our late afternoon / evening trip to Italy:

After 3 hours and some serious climbing to 2115m altitude, we cross into Italy via the Splügen pass – Italy greets us with its usual bumpy roads. (although, I must concede that they are currently resurfacing parts of the road and the overall ride is better than in June during TDAF2016)

Welcome to Italy!
Up here, after sunset, temperatures are already sub zero…brrr! Time to get to our overnight stay!
20 minutes later, we check into our B&B and start charging TW560. Again, a very new experience: TW560 will be charging around 10+ hours at the maximum rate allowed by the plug we sourced for our recharge!
