TDGB2025: Day 9 – From Vittel back home – Vogese and Black Forest hills

This is my last day on TDGB2025 and I am still surprised at how quickly nine days have passed. The weather is kind to me once again. From my hotel room window I see the sky glowing in soft yellow and blue, and the air already feels warm and welcoming. Breakfast has become a ritual on this trip like everyone of them before. I find a small boulangerie each morning and enjoy a fresh croissant. Today’s croissant was extraordinary. It was so flaky that it started to crumble before I even touched it. A messy breakfast but a very good […]

Neo Cable Selection

Eight years ago, I started a page describing the different cables and connectors needed for long-distance travel across Europe with a TWIKE. At that time, Type 2 connectors were still rather uncommon. Even though I had already built a simple connector in 2014, I still listed this cable as something that might be useful. The full travel kit looked quite extensive back then: Charging and the EV landscape have changed a lot since then. The website provides comprehensive information about the TWIKE’s features, including its lightweight construction, low energy consumption, and high efficiency. It also highlights the vehicle’s impressive track record, including numerous awards and records for its performance and energy efficiency. One of the most interesting things I learned about the TWIKE is […]

TDE2022 – Day 12 – Grau de Roi to Biot, enjoying the Côte d’Azur

Coming from Spain, France’s idea of having fun at the beach is noticeably different. More planning, lots of ‘animations’, hurray-hurray ‘we’re having so much fun’ type activities and lots of ClubMed-style places everywhere. The French seem much more focused on having activities going on than just relaxing. I might have just stumbled across a stretch of the coast that has a concentration of such places. I’m leaving a day earlier as my family – I have arranged to meet with a work colleague of mine that lives in southern France close to Nice and couch-surf at his place for a […]
