This is a quick re-cap of my two weeks in Spain this year. Since I’m on vacation I’ll be brief.

As you might know, part of my extended family is from Spain. Owning and not renting means we get treated to local stuff as apartment owner’s meetings and energy bills πŸ™‚

I’ve already written about Spain’s exemplary power bills and wished for us in Switzerland to have the same level of detail.

This year, I’m treated to the newest numbers and they’ve just gotten better! Over 40% of all energy in Spain is from renewable sources!

It’s always interesting to see how difficult English must be for non-English speakers. Fortunately, my wife and I speak Spanish πŸ™‚

Just 2 weeks after our epic trip across Europe JC’s taken his own TWIKE to the road and drove to Genoa, the ferry to Barcelona and drove to southern Spain to visit us! JC definitely wins this year’s “most km travelled internationally by TWIKE”-award!

With another 1600km under his belt and about a week with us, TW231 is going to be under-utilized during this time. We cannot let this happen, right?

My wife and I decided to leave our kids with JC and head out to Alicante for an evening on our own.

TWIKEing far away from home is always a special experience. We drive up to Alicante’s castle – a prominent landmark visible from all over town.

A beautiful evening awaits us and the views are stunning.

During the next few days, TW231 is only used for shopping and buying DIY supplies to fix-up our apartment. This is why JC and I decide to take TW231 on an one-day trip around Alicante. The trip was very nice, but one word describes it best: HOT! (But not as hot as our last TWIKE-trip to Spain)

One last thing – My commentary on Spain’s progress regarding electric mobility:

I was there during 2 weeks in Alicante, outlying villages and Valencia four times. In Switzerland I would have seen at least one electric car every day… In Spain I saw exactly ONE car – and it wasn’t driving on it’s own!

After 8 days with us, JC leaves us.

… to travel to the southernmost point of Spain, cross into Portugal, drive along the coast to Vigo, keep to the northern Spanish coast until he crosses back into France and then drive back to Switzerland. Wow. A pity JC doesn’t blog πŸ™‚
